Here at VCL Medford we are always doing some sort of dog therapy. Most of our resident know my puppy Blue who is a silver lab who they love. They are always asking about her and the next time I’m bringing her in. All our residents absolutely adore dogs and love when they get to visit. Some even keep doggy snacks in their room for their furry friends. This week we had a surprise visit with two 4-week-old silver lab puppies that look just like Blue come to visit all our residents! They were all over the moon! I was even hearing about it after the puppies left. Comments like you can leave them in my room and they are so cuddly and soft were made by most residents! I love that we can make our dog therapy possible. The fact that this brings light to our residents, and they have a smile on their face for the rest of the day, makes us all very happy and remind us why we do what we do. We have been doing this for 3-4 years now and everyone seems to love it and continue it by bringing in dogs whether it is family members of residents, staff, or myself.
